Terms of Use
Last updated: 14 October 2026
These terms apply when you use the Solsher app or website. Please read them. In short: Solsher connects people. The services, jobs, homes, items and rides are offered by other users, not by Solsher. Pay only through the app, keep your dealings honest and respectful, and tell us when something goes wrong.
1. About Solsher and these terms
Solsher is an app and website run by Solsher (Pty) Ltd, a South African company (registration number 2026/767450/07). In these terms, "Solsher", "we" and "us" mean Solsher (Pty) Ltd, and "you" means anyone who uses the app or website.
By creating an account or using Solsher, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use Solsher.
Some parts of Solsher have extra rules, which are set out below and shown in the app where they apply. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under South African law, including the Consumer Protection Act and the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
2. Your account
- You must be 18 or older to create an account.
- You sign in with a one-time code sent to your phone or email. Keep your phone and email secure, and never share your codes with anyone. Solsher will never ask you for a code.
- The details you give us must be true and up to date. Use your own name and your own phone number.
- You are responsible for what happens on your account. If you think someone else has used it, tell us straight away at support@solsher.co.za.
- One person may not hold more than one account to get around a suspension or a rule.
- You can delete your account in the app at any time. If you have open bookings, payments or problems, you'll need to finish or cancel them first.
3. What Solsher does and doesn't do
Solsher is a platform that connects people: customers with service providers, companies with job seekers, landlords with people looking for a home, buyers with sellers, and drivers with passengers.
- The services, jobs, homes, items and rides on Solsher are offered by other users. Solsher does not provide them itself.
- When you book a service, accept a job, rent a home, buy an item or join a ride, the agreement is between you and the other user. Solsher is not a party to that agreement.
- Service providers, drivers, landlords and sellers are independent. They are not Solsher's employees or agents.
- Solsher is not an employer, an employment agency, an estate agent, a transport operator or an insurer.
- We work hard to keep Solsher safe and fair (see sections 4, 14 and 15), but we can't promise that every user will do what they say.
4. Checks and verification
Service providers, drivers and landlords must upload documents before they can go live, such as an ID or passport and, where the work needs it, certificates, licences or proof of ownership. Solsher checks these before approving them. Work photos are also checked, by an automatic check and by our team, to keep contact details and unsuitable content off Solsher.
These checks reduce risk but can't remove it. We check that documents look genuine and match the person; we can't confirm everything about a person's skills, history or conduct. Please use your own judgement too: read reviews, ask questions in the app, and follow our safety tips.
The "Solsher Verified" mark means a provider's documents were checked and approved by Solsher. It is not a guarantee of the quality of their work.
5. Payments, fees and payouts
Paying through Solsher
Payments in the app are processed by Payfast, a registered South African payment provider. Solsher never sees or stores your full card details.
Always pay through the app. Payments made outside Solsher are not protected: if something goes wrong, we can't help you get your money back. Asking someone to pay outside the app breaks these terms.
Our fees
All prices are in South African rand. The fee for anything you buy on Solsher is shown in the app before you pay. Our current fees are:
| Part of Solsher | Fee |
|---|---|
| Services | 12% of the booking price, included in the price the customer pays |
| Jobs | R299 per job ad for 30 days. Applying is free. |
| Homes | R99 per listing per month. Looking for a home is free. |
| Marketplace, items under R10,000 | Seller pays 8% (at least R10); buyer pays R5 buyer protection |
| Marketplace, items R10,000 to R49,999 | R299 listing for 30 days |
| Marketplace, items R50,000 and up, including vehicles | R499 listing for 30 days |
| Carpool | 8% of the seat price (at least R10), paid by the passenger on top |
| Domestic workers | Families: R49 per post (first post free). Workers: optional Boost R20 and References-checked badge R30. |
| Featured provider | R149 per month (optional, for approved providers rated 4 or more) |
We may change our fees. New fees apply only to things you pay for after the change, and we will show them in the app before you pay.
How payments for services work
- The customer pays the full booking price through the app when the provider accepts the booking.
- Solsher holds the payment until the job is done. Once the customer confirms the job is done (or, if the customer doesn't respond, once Solsher has checked that it was done and no problem was reported), Solsher pays the provider the booking price less Solsher's fee into the bank account they gave us.
- Providers must give correct bank details in their own name or their business's name. We are not responsible for delays caused by wrong bank details.
- Providers are responsible for their own tax.
Fees for ads and listings
Job ad, home listing, big-item listing, Boost, badge and Featured fees pay for the ad, listing or feature for the time shown. They are not refunded once the ad or listing has gone live, including if you close it early. If Solsher turns down an ad or listing and you choose not to fix it, you can ask for a refund of that fee within 30 days at support@solsher.co.za.
6. Services
- Providers set their own prices and decide which bookings to accept.
- Providers must have the skills, qualifications, licences and certificates the work legally needs, and keep them valid.
- Providers must do the work they agreed to, safely, on time and to a reasonable standard. Customers must give accurate details of the job, give safe access and be respectful.
- Contact details stay private until a booking is confirmed and paid. This protects both sides and keeps payments protected.
- Reviews must be honest and about a real booking. We may remove reviews that are false, abusive or include personal information.
7. Jobs
- Only real jobs may be advertised, with honest details of the work, the place and the pay where shown. Solsher checks each ad before it goes live and may turn down or remove ads that break these terms.
- Companies must never ask job seekers for money: no fees for applying, training, uniforms, medicals or "placement". Report any request for money to us.
- Companies may use applicants' CVs and details only to consider them for the job advertised, and must handle them according to POPIA.
- The decision to hire is the company's. Solsher is not part of any employment relationship and does not guarantee that anyone will be hired.
8. Homes
- Only landlords who own a property, or have the owner's written permission, may list it. Solsher checks landlords before their listings go live.
- Listings must be honest about the home, the rent, the deposit and what's included. The exact address is shown only after a viewing is accepted.
- Never pay a deposit or rent before you have viewed the home and signed a lease. Anyone who asks for money before a viewing should be reported to us.
- The lease is between the landlord and the tenant, who must both follow the Rental Housing Act and other laws that apply. Solsher is not an estate agent and is not part of the lease.
9. Marketplace
- Sellers may sell only items they own and are allowed to sell, described honestly, with real photos.
- Items that are illegal, stolen, counterfeit, dangerous, or restricted by law may not be sold. This includes weapons, ammunition, drugs, medicines, alcohol, tobacco and vaping products, and animals.
- For items paid through the app, buyer protection means Solsher holds the payment until the buyer confirms they received the item as described, or until the time shown in the app passes without a problem being reported.
- When meeting in person, use a safe public place (see section 15) and never pay in cash at a meeting for an item you have already paid for in the app.
10. Carpool
- Carpool is for sharing the cost of a trip you are already making, not for running a taxi or transport business. Seat prices are set by the driver to share fuel and running costs.
- Drivers must hold a valid driver's licence, use a roadworthy and licensed vehicle, follow the rules of the road, and carry any insurance the law requires. Solsher checks the driver's ID, licence and vehicle before they can offer trips.
- Solsher does not provide transport and does not insure drivers, passengers or vehicles.
- Passengers must be on time, respect the driver and the car, and pay through the app.
- Use the safety tools in the app, including Share my trip and the SOS button.
11. Domestic workers
- Solsher connects families with domestic workers, au pairs and similar helpers. The family and the worker agree the work, the hours and the pay themselves.
- The family is the employer. Families and workers must follow the laws that apply, including the Basic Conditions of Employment Act, the national minimum wage, and registration for UIF.
- Workers' ID and, where shown, references are checked by Solsher, but families should still meet the worker, ask questions and check references themselves.
12. Rules for everyone
When you use Solsher, you must not:
- ask anyone to pay or talk outside the app to avoid Solsher's fees or protections, or share phone numbers, emails or social media names in profiles, photos or ads;
- give false information, pretend to be someone else, or use someone else's documents;
- harass, threaten, discriminate against or abuse anyone, including on the grounds of race, nationality, gender, religion, disability or sexual orientation;
- post anything illegal, false, misleading, sexual, violent or hateful;
- scam, defraud or put anyone in danger;
- copy, scrape or interfere with the app or website, or try to get around our checks or security;
- use Solsher for anything that breaks the law.
13. What you post
You keep ownership of the photos, text and documents you add to Solsher. You give Solsher permission to store them, check them, and show them in the app and on our website (for example, a provider's work photos or a live job ad) for as long as they are on Solsher and as needed to run the service. Documents such as IDs and certificates are never shown to other users.
You must have the right to post everything you add. We may remove anything that breaks these terms.
The Solsher name, logo, app and website belong to Solsher (Pty) Ltd. You may not use them without our written permission.
14. Problems, refunds and disputes
- If something goes wrong with a booking or a purchase, report it in the app as soon as possible: open the booking and tap "Report a problem". Do this before you confirm the job is done.
- When a problem is reported, Solsher keeps holding the payment while we look into it. We will contact both sides, look at what each says and at the messages in the app, and then decide fairly whether to pay the provider or seller, refund the customer or buyer in full or in part, or close the problem.
- Before the provider accepts and the customer pays, either side can cancel a booking request at no cost. After payment, cancellations are handled through "Report a problem".
- Refunds are paid back to the customer by Solsher. How long they take to reach you depends on your bank.
- Solsher's decision on a payment held in the app does not stop you from taking a dispute further under the law (see section 19).
15. Safety
- Keep all messages and payments in the app.
- Meet in safe, public places where possible, especially for Marketplace sales.
- Share your trip or booking details with someone you trust.
- If you ever feel unsafe, leave and get help. In an emergency, call 10111 (police) or 112 from a cell phone. Solsher is not an emergency service.
- Report unsafe behaviour in the app or at support@solsher.co.za with "Safety" in the subject line.
16. Our responsibility to you
We will run Solsher with reasonable care and skill. Because the services, jobs, homes, items and rides on Solsher are offered by other users, Solsher is not responsible for their quality, safety or legality, or for what users do or don't do, except where the law makes us responsible or where we caused the loss through our own negligence or breach of these terms.
We try to keep Solsher available and working, but it may sometimes be unavailable for maintenance or for reasons outside our control.
As far as the law allows, Solsher's total liability to you for any claim about a transaction is limited to the fees Solsher earned from that transaction, and we are not liable for indirect losses such as lost profit. These limits don't apply where the law doesn't allow them, including your rights under the Consumer Protection Act.
You are responsible for loss you cause to Solsher or other users by breaking these terms or the law.
17. Suspending or closing accounts
We may warn you, hide your profile, ads or listings, hold payments while we investigate, or suspend or close your account if you break these terms, if we reasonably suspect fraud or a risk to other users, or if the law requires it. Where it's safe and lawful, we will tell you why and give you a chance to respond.
You can stop using Solsher and delete your account at any time. Some records are kept after deletion, as explained in our Privacy Policy.
18. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as Solsher grows. We will show the date of the latest version at the top of this page, and tell you in the app before important changes take effect. If you keep using Solsher after a change takes effect, the new terms apply.
19. Law and complaints
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. If you have a complaint, please contact us first at support@solsher.co.za or 060 131 7007 so we can try to put it right. If we can't resolve it, you can approach the National Consumer Commission, the relevant ombud, or a South African court.
